The North West of Donegal has a wonderful Archipeligo of islands facing out into the Wild Atlantic. Scattered with ancient sea caves, stacks, arches and hidden bays and beaches between towering cliffs, It is a perfect place to take your paddling to the next level.
Donegal Islands Expedition
Set off from the lively harbour village of Burtonport and explore one of Ireland’s most wild and beautiful coastlines by kayak. The islands off Donegal are a maze of quiet bays, sea arches and hidden beaches, where the Atlantic feels big and untamed and the scenery changes around every headland.
Paddling between islands like Arranmore and the smaller, lesser-known isles, you’ll glide over clear water, past rugged cliffs and open stretches of ocean. Seals often pop up to investigate, seabirds wheel overhead, and there’s a real sense of adventure as you move through places that feel wonderfully remote.
This is a kayaking trip for people who love being on the water and soaking up the atmosphere of the west of Ireland. Expect salty air, big skies, plenty of laughs, and evenings back ashore sharing stories after a day exploring Donegal’s island coast from a completely different perspective.
We lead you out into the Atlantic and into the wonderful expanse of nature known for its frequent sea visitors from Dolphins, birds, seals and Whales.
Join us as we explore these wonderful islands taking in the vast scenery and beautiful vistas then discuss it all over a pint of the Black stuff while enjoying some local hospitality.
Level of Paddling
This is a trip that can be tailored to the participants needs. Ideally paddlers will be paddling on or around the British Canoeing Sea Kayak award or to a similar standard. This will allow us to get the best out of the coast in the area in balance with the conditions.
Equipment
You are more than welcome to use your own kayaking kit, the site is a short drive from Belfast. However we can also supply a limited selection of kit if you need it at extra cost.
Accomodation
This is not included in the price, however we can help you find accommodation locally in B&Bs or campsites.
