Isle of Mull Expedition
Paddle your way around the Isle of Mull and see Scotland’s wild west coast at its best. From the water, Mull feels bigger, wilder and more peaceful, with rugged headlands, turquoise bays and beaches you’ll often have completely to yourself.
Days are spent exploring sea caves, slipping into quiet coves and hopping between small islands just offshore. Wildlife is a big part of the experience — seals are regular companions, sea eagles soar overhead, and there’s always the chance of spotting dolphins or whales along the way. Evenings are relaxed, whether that’s camping by the shore or winding down in a cosy coastal spot.
This trip is about taking your time and enjoying the journey. Led by experienced guides, it’s adventurous without being intense — perfect if you’re looking to switch off, enjoy good company and experience Mull from a whole new perspective: right from your kayak.
This trip is designed for paddlers used to comfortably paddling a minimum of 25km in a day and are comfortable in wind conditions up to Beaufort force 5, tides up to and beyond 2 knots and changeable sea conditions. Paddlers need to be comfortable paddling ladened kayaks carrying enough supplies for several days.
The expedition is designed to be a safe and fun adventure in a rugged wilderness, each stage is planned to ensure we see as much of the area as possible. We carry all of our provisions with us and are self sufficient for the entire trip.
We choose our wild camping spots carefully to ensure we reduce impact, using established sites, taking waste with us and ensuring we follow the principals of Leave No Trace.
Camping
During the trip we stop at 4 awesome wild camping sites. This gives you the opportunity to get away from it all and get back to nature. Because many of the sites are not dedicated camping sites, it is important we camp responsibly and preserve as much of the natural environment as possible.
If you are unsure of what type of tent solution to use, contact us to discuss your needs. We may be able top help in providing some basic lightweight gear.
Food and Cooking
During this trip we cater for everyone. Breakfast options, coffee available when you wake up, lunch provided for the group and a delicious dinner cooked by our guides.
Kit hire
We can discuss kit choices for the expeditions in preparation for the trip, however we do have some items that can be rented from us. We can provide a limited number of kayaks and equipment if you are commuting by train/plane.
