ABOUT THE TRIP

Our expedition skills weekend aims to give you an insight into efficient expedition kayaking. If you are looking to explore the sea with some overnight camping trips, this course is. must do!

We look at the kayak as a way to adventure and camp over multiple days exploring ways to store gear for efficiency. We examine what kit we need to have on expedition and the best and most effective choices for simplicity when camping, avoiding kit that usually gets packed and never gets utilised.

Usually we make use of the North East Coast of Northern Ireland, however this can be delivered in a wide array of locations. This course also forms part of the content from the Paddle UK Multi Day Touring Award.

We also explore some of the cooking skills that might be required and she with you some of our favourite nutritious camping recipes.

After a short journey in full boats we look at:

• Camp setup
• Fire making
• Tarpology
• Food prep
• Insulation
• Leave no Trace

We can also tailor other aspects into the course upon request.

To attend this course you’ll need to have your own boat, paddle and paddling gear. We would suggest you have a throw line, tow line, helmet and suitable footwear. We also suggest that participants come prepared with a suitable tent, mat and sleeping bag for the weather. If you need any advice about this, please contact us.
