About the course
If you are seeking to progress into paddlesports coaching or you just want to sharpen up your rescue and water safety skills then this course is for you.
This 1 day course aims to give you the confidence and experience in rescues across multiple craft while educating you on safe practices for all water users.
We explore rescues in multiple craft and enable you to be aware of the best practice in rescuing others.
Throughout the course we examine simple and safe ways to manage situations within a sheltered water environment, exploring ways of managing incidences in a safe and constructive way.
Do I need lots of paddling experience?
You don’t need any previous experience to take part in a Paddlesports Safety and Rescue course, just the desire to learn and have some fun! You can use any craft, including kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards (SUP) and sit on tops.
What should I bring along with me?
We suggest wearing paddling clothing that will keep you warm. We spend a significant amount of time in the water so it is important to have the right kit for immersion. We suggest you bring your own craft and paddle. You only need to do each rescue for your chosen craft, but we do bring enough craft for people to be able to swap round and try others if they wish.
Do I need a PSR course?
The course is a pre requisite for those wishing to work as a Paddlesports Instructor. However, it is a great course for anyone who helps out at a club level, for those paddlers wishing to expand their operational knowledge or for paddlers keen to learn new skills to aid them on the water. We believe the skills taught on the course are essential for all paddlesports users on our waterways.
