Our Long term Development Programme (LTDP) is our exclusive coaching scheme designed to build and develop a unique Coach & Client relationship to identify goals, develop abilities and grow across a programme designed exclusively for the client.

The Long Term Development Programme (LTDP) aims to grow your skills with focused long term coaching that is tailored to your individual needs. It aims to grow the coach-client relationship to enable seamless development and continued cooperation.

LTDP members access coaching on weekly basis with a set number of session being one2one and others being small group; depending on the clients goals. The sessions are tailored to help achieve the clients goals, which are established and evolved continually.

We have two skills groups based on the tiers below. When applying you will need to decide which tier you fit into.

Tier 4 – Beginner You’d likely have some experience in introduction classes and have developed balance and some control of the kayak. You may still have worries about capsizing and may not have been out in stronger weather conditions.
Tier 3 – IntermediateYou likely have experience at a club level, paddling a variety of group paddles in multiple environments which are starting to challenge your skills. You are aiming towards being more confident in the kayak and an active asset to leaders on paddles. You’re developing confidence in rolling and rescues.
Tier 2 – ExperiencedYou have completed several paddling trips in various conditions. Your confidence is growing in more challenging winds and sea states. You have a developing roll and feel self sufficient in most paddling groups. You look to become more skilful and deliberate in your execution with a view to completing Paddle UK Sea Kayak award.
Tier 1 – AdvancingYour skills in dynamic conditions with winds exceeding Beaufort Force 4. You are comfortable in waves and tides and have a growing sense of confidence in you these environments. You have an established roll and you are looking to make it reliable in more dynamic conditions. You may already have achieved the PaddleUK Sea Kayak award with an aim of completing the Coastal award or other leadership awards.

Costs

To join the Long Term Development Program you need to complete the form opposite and pay your commitment deposit of £390.

This deposit pays for an initial assessment session and two one2one coaching sessions to begin the process as well as two online skill theory discussion sessions.

Following this intro students then pay discounted rates of:

  • £75 per group coaching sessions (6 hours)
  • £160 for one2one sessions (6 hours)
  • £75 for one2one sessions (3 hours)

Each cohort has a limited number of 3 persons per group. We aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for individual sessions and target reflections.

To attend the LTDP you’ll need to have your own boat, paddle and paddling gear suitable for the conditions.
